Supported families means stronger communities

The Family Connects model is built on years of research and evidence that shows when newborns and families have the support they need, our communities grow stronger and healthier. Studies of Family Connects services have shown:

Family Connects Oregon is a brief but powerful touchpoint

“Family Connects Oregon helps families during stressful times, helping ensure we have a healthy population, and kids are prepared to get to school to be prepared to learn and be the next generations of our leaders.

With home visiting and a trusting relationship between a home visiting nurse and a parent, we can develop and deliver resources to people. In those first days and weeks anything we can do to help parents feel confident and competent, to allow them to be their best, so they’re at their best for their babies. There’s so much that goes into brain development and bonding during those early days”

Dr. Benjamin Hoffman, the Medical Director for Family Connects Oregon, is a Professor of Pediatrics at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. At OHSU, Dr. Hoffman is the Vice-Chair for Community Health and Advocacy, Director of the Oregon Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs, and Medical Director of the Tom Sargent Safety Center.
